We recommend to the opposition parties in Hungary, with particular regard to their candidate for Prime Minister, that they make their statements regarding Ukraine carefully. At the same time, the majority opinion of the civilian population should be accepted and supported.
Peace has always superseded war. The common goal of our nation is to end the killing of human lives in Ukraine. Our neighborhood is suffering from unexpected Russian aggression. A military attack against any sovereign country is unacceptable.
We stand for the peace negotiations to end as soon as possible. We extend a hand of friendship to all refugees from Ukraine. We civilians welcome them with love and care. If we were to send weapons to Ukraine, treacherous and extremist elements could tell us that the Transcarpathian Hungarians are preparing for revenge. We have been approaching our neighbors with respect and cooperation for 100 years. In our eventual disputes, we argue patiently in the spirit of reciprocity. The devastating effect of the war is that young Ukrainians die on the front together with young people of Hungarian nationality.
The peace of Europe is our common treasure. Our peace march, as the name suggests, on March 15 will reflect our position. quietly and with dignity, together with our Polish, Italian and Spanish colleagues, we believe in the sovereignty of Ukraine and encourage the end of the senseless war.
