The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade sharply criticized the left-wing Prime Minister candidate for his claim that the Transcarpathian Hungarians are "Russian-friendly", reports Magyar Nemzet, referring to Mandiner.

As is known, Péter Márki-Zay recently said about those fleeing the Russian invasion that

let's not rule out the possibility that many Transcarpathian Hungarians may have been more pro-Russian than pro-Ukrainian in this conflict.

On his social media page, Péter Szijjártó sharply criticized the left-wing prime ministerial candidate for these statements. As he says in his video: "Péter Márki-Zay claimed that the Hungarians living in Transcarpathia are the party of the country at war with Ukraine."

Do you think that the people you claim to be are vulnerable targets or not? asked Szijjártó.

As he puts it, Márki-Zay's statements like this "clearly give rise to heightened nationalist sentiments". According to Szijjártó, this left-wing candidate put tens of thousands of people in danger, "and this person will ask the Hungarian people to trust him to lead this country," he added.

We want peace in our region and we want the suffering of people in Ukraine to end, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
