Nézőpont LikeFight is appearing again in the series analyzing social media as a public battlefield, this time from March 4-10. Mandiner examined the period between The data and analysis of LikeFight is provided by the Nézőpont Institute.
War, election campaign, presidential election: in the past week, these three public topics determined the political activity of Hungarian Facebook users, and in the case of all three topics, the right gained much more interaction (likes, shares, comments) compared to its left-wing rivals.
It is important to emphasize that the numbers of LikeFight mostly reflect the expectations of the camps and the energy put in by the actors. By definition, a like is not equal to a vote.
From the interaction distribution of the posts related to the war, it was also clear this week that Hungarians identified with Viktor Orbán and the right wing, and this time the prime minister defeated the entire political field on social media. Among the parties, Fidesz once again dominated the competition, and the Two-Tailed Dog Party gained permanent strength, already ahead of most of the parties of the left coalition. The Dog Party already owns 7.3 percent of the interactions. Compared to the first week of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the number of interactions allocated to politicians decreased somewhat, but this topic still dominates public life.
The superiority of the right wing among politicians is quite convincing: the number of interactions of nearly two million is considered very high, and
Viktor Orbán led the field again this time.
It is interesting that not only Viktor Orbán, the absolute winner, but also Péter Szijjártó and Judit Varga preceded the list leader of the left.
However, Péter Márki-Zay's staff tried many new tools this week: they "imported" a campaign song from the United States, but they even borrowed the style of his extraordinary login from the United States.
However, the left-wing candidate's interaction numbers have simply been stuck at the level they are now seeing for weeks.
Their left-wing interactions find an old classic every week instead of the common candidate, last week Gergely Karácsony and now Péter Jakab were sent to follow Márki-Zay, but even Ferenc Gyurcsány made it to fourth place.
In the competition of the parties, Fidesz's result of more than 53 percent this week is slowly becoming the usual, but it is much more exciting that the Kétfarkú Kutya Párt, with its 7.3 percent, has become the third force since the outbreak of the war.
If Facebook interaction numbers could be converted into votes, the Two-Tails would get into parliament.
