The Hungarian Music House realized as part of the Liget Budapest Project won the jury's main prize on Thursday in Cannes, at MIPIM, the world's largest and most prestigious real estate exhibition, announced László Baán, ministerial commissioner of the Liget Budapest project, in his statement on Friday.
Hungarian development received the jury's main prize for the first time in the three-decade history of the MIPIM Awards, the most prestigious international real estate award. The international professional committee placed the House of Hungarian Music at the top of the field featuring the world's best buildings and awarded it with the jury's main prize by unanimous vote. The jury, made up of international experts, judged the special building designed by Japanese star architect Sou Fujimoto to be the best in the world in terms of sustainability, aesthetics and visitor experience.
With the main prize of the MIPIM Awards, the House of Hungarian Music achieved one of the biggest international successes of domestic real estate development and became one of the buildings with the most recognition in Hungary. Previously, it was recognized as the best at the prestigious London International Property Awards and the American Music Cities Awards , while CNN, World Architecture and the leading international program presenter, TimeOut magazine, considered it one of the most anticipated buildings in the world. The Liget Budapest project is today Europe's largest urban development project with a cultural content - said László Baán , ministerial commissioner of the project, adding that the international successes of the already completed developments, such as the world premiere of the Hungarian Music House, prove that after the full completion of the project Hungary will have one of the most attractive and complex cultural districts in Europe.
