After eighty years, Sándor Hunyady's grave will be opened so that the Hungarian man of the world can rest next to his uncle, who is also his role model. - writes 24.hu, which provides a brief biography of Alexander Brody, who died on the thirteenth of February, and was born as Sándor Bródy in Budapest in 1933.
He came to America at the age of fifteen, where he took the name Alexander Brody.
He graduated from Princeton University and then worked at the Young and Rubicam advertising company for three and a half decades, during which he rose from runway boy to international director of the company. Between 1984 and 1987, he was the president of the World Advertising Association.
After he retired, he spent more and more time in Hungary; in memory of his grandfather, he founded the Sándor Bródy award, and was the patron of the János Bolyai creative award.
Several volumes have been published, and the thematic anthology series Alibi for Six Months, which has been in existence for more than twenty years and has had twenty-five issues so far, is connected to it.
In 2005, he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, and in 2019, the Glass Ball Award of the Writers' Shop in Budapest.
An interview book about his life was published under the title Finding Serendipity, in which, among other things, he talks about his family friends, Pál Jávor and Gyula Csortos, he talks about Princeton snacks with Albert Einstein, playing tennis with Grace Kelly, his acquaintance with Greta Garbo, his friendship with Audrey Hepburn, he talks about America, Hungary, the wider world, about work and politics, love and family.
The most important figure in his life was his uncle, Sándor Hunyady, who died in 1942, about whom he said the following:
"Unfortunately, I am not even the shadow of my grandfather and my real role model, my uncle, Sándor Hunyady, it hurts me, but everything cannot come together in one life."
At the request of his children, Alexander Brody is buried next to Sándor Hunyady.
The ceremony will take place in the Fiumei út cemetery on Tuesday, March 22, from 2 p.m.
