In an interview with Magyar Hírlap, a British author who is also on the bestseller list of The Sunday Times stated that the promoters of the ideology of transgenderism react with irritation to all counter-arguments, because they have realized that reality still refuses to adapt to their bizarre views. Helen Joyce also spoke about how the denial of gender differences seriously endangers not only the legal and social equality of women, but also poses a serious risk to their safety.
- In one of his writings, he called the views of transgender rights defenders a "bizarre ideology without evidence". There have been many other "weird, unsubstantiated ideologies" in history. Can gender and trans ideology cause as much damage as they do?
– We are human beings, we also have a body that shapes our lives, and we have a nature that determines our desires and needs. Part of this is that we cannot change our gender. There are people today who are beginning to believe, or at least claim to believe, that the fact that there are two genders—that is, that we are all conceived male or female—doesn't matter. Since we are actually gendered beings, this notion is a lie.
Embedding lies in society is a very bad thing. This means ignoring real issues, especially those affecting women. So to pretend that people can choose to become male or female is to ignore basic facts about women's bodily, physical existence. This includes aspects such as the fact that we are the bearers of all life, we are physically weaker and therefore more vulnerable. But when we pretend that gender is not real, we make it impossible to organize society in a way that supports women's gendered needs (such as decent maternity rights and services) and mitigates the vulnerabilities of women's physical characteristics.
– Can NGOs and health professionals harm children by instilling in them the idea that thinking in terms of the biological categories of men and women somehow violates the principle of justice?
- Obviously! Children should not be taught to lie. It is now routine in the Anglosphere to teach children that you are a boy or a girl based on how you feel and express yourself. This is complete nonsense. In reality, you are a boy or a girl if you are male or female. Meanwhile, of course, I admire those people who don't let their gender limit them.
Instead, this new ideology tells children that it is only their identification with old-fashioned gender stereotypes that makes them a boy or a girl—that if they like science, sports, for example, they are boys, and if they like glitter and pink, ballet and gossip, then girls, whatever the doctor said when they were born. I think the correct definition of boy/girl is this: a boy or girl child can be whoever they want to be without having to deny their gender. These ideologues, on the other hand, believe that boyhood and girlhood should be defined according to whether one is masculine or feminine. All this contradicts human self-realization and freedom.
– The ideology that maintains the right to silence dissenters is similar to an authoritarian system. Authoritarianism can only flourish in an atmosphere of fear. Are we already living in such an atmosphere?
– If you want to embed a lie into society and the legal system, you have to be authoritarian. You are like the naked emperor in the fairy tale - it is essential that people do not laugh at the fact that you are naked (that is, that your ideology is stupid). And so all dissent must be silenced or the whole thing will collapse instantly. This is why this movement is authoritarian - it has to be in order to survive. And yes, all authoritarian movements require fear, because that's how people can be silenced.
An example should be made of people who dare to speak out - people like JK Rowling - to scare others away from this topic. I've heard many times in private that "of course you're right - but I wouldn't dare say that in public". The result of this will be that politicians and decision-makers all think that everyone agrees with these ideologies, when the majority do not, they just refuse to say so. This is called false consensus manufacturing.
- It seems that the promoters of trans-ideologies are angered by the position of those who think about the male and female gender. Why are they so irritated?
– They are angry because reality refuses to conform to their will. And they are even angrier at those who point it out. They cannot accept that someone disagrees with them, because they want to reshape reality to what they desire. As soon as someone points to Lia Thomas (an American male swimmer who identifies as a woman - ed.) and says, "That's a man, he shouldn't be in the women's competition," the lie is already exposed.
– Can trans activism undermine the progress made in the field of women's rights over the past century?
- Of course - this is already happening. In theory, this ideology harms everyone, but it harms women more, as they, for example, need more gender-segregated spaces for their safety. Radical trans activism harms women by placing men in women's prisons, domestic violence shelters, locker rooms, and public restrooms.
Women have lost their ability to expel men from such facilities if a man says "I'm a woman." And let's face it, any man can say that, since the definition of "woman" is completely subjective these days. Thus, such a man has the right to stay in these premises, while a woman who disagrees with this is now considered a bigot.
