Election 2022: the majority wants the government to remain in place, a voter turnout of up to 80% is conceivable.
Six days before the weekend parliamentary elections, the majority does not support a change of government - this is revealed by the latest public opinion survey by Závecz Research. 44 percent of those polled want the current government to stay, while 42 percent trust its departure.
Based on the party lists, 41 percent of all respondents would vote for the Fidesz-KDNP, and 39 percent for the United for Hungary list. Compared to the beginning of February, both party lists increased by 3 percent in the opinion poll.
The mobilization seems to have had its effect, both camps seem committed, but at the same time, the independents are divided, 26-26 percent want the government to stay or leave. And the majority of them (64 percent) have already decided who they will vote for, nearly a third of them (28 percent) don't know yet.
They also note that a high turnout of around 80 percent is expected in the election.
The Fidesz-KDNP can expect to win in 73 districts, while the opposition coalition would get 33 individual mandates, which, considering the current governing parties, would mean a total of 119 seats in the parliament - said the Center for Fundamental Rights, the Viewpoint Institute, the Real-PR 93., the Századvég At a conference organized by the Public Knowledge Center Foundation and the Social Researcher. The heads of the institutes agreed that, based on the pre-election research, Fidesz-KDNP is the likely candidate, but the turnout on election day will be of decisive importance.
The electoral district chances presented at the conference are the same as the data published by taktikaiszavazas.hu last Wednesday, which also predicted 73 electoral district victories for the ruling party and 33 for the opposition.
Analyst Krisztián Talabér, representing the Social Researcher, stated that
based on the declining support of the left, it failed to appeal to new voters, but there is also a problem with the ability to retain votes. The research clearly shows that in the parliamentary election, 68 percent of the entire population do not think it is possible to vote for the new party planned by Péter Márki-Zay, and only 35 percent of the left-wing voting camp think it is possible.
The analysts also drew attention to the fact that 92 percent of the total population, but also 85 percent of the left-wing voting camp, agree that Hungary must do everything possible to avoid being drawn into the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
It was also said that after the outbreak of the war, the proportion of supporters and opponents of the prime minister diverged even more than in previous weeks.
This sharp separation proves that voters trust the government's and the Prime Minister's crisis management activities.
Viktor Orbán is at 58 percent in the parliamentary election campaign, said Károly Bozsonyi, research consultant of the Center for Fundamental Rights.
