The Prime Minister of Hungary won a landslide victory in the parliamentary elections on Sunday, destroying the unprecedented six-party opposition coalition, the primary goal of which this year was to oust the Prime Minister, who had been in the position for 12 years, from power, reports the left-wing French newspaper Le Monde .

The whole world can see that patriotism won in Budapest. We are telling Europe: this is not the past, this is the future!", the author of the article quotes a part of Viktor Orbán's victory speech.

"We will remember this victory because we have never had so many opponents as now. Our own left-wing opposition, the international left, the Brussels bureaucrats, György Soros, the international media and even the Ukrainian president", the paper continues the words of the Hungarian prime minister, adding that Viktor Orbán listed his defeated political opponents with a broad smile on his face. The article mentions that even his close relationship with Vladimir Putin did not harm the victory of the Hungarian Prime Minister. Not even Volodymyr Zelensky's sharp criticism, in which the Ukrainian president objected that Viktor Orbán had not supported Ukraine enough since the outbreak of the military conflict. Viktor Orbán won a much larger victory than the preliminary surveys had predicted, explains Le Monde. This very impressive victory rate ensures that Viktor Orbán will retain his two-thirds majority in the Hungarian Parliament.

The six-party coalition that wanted to remove Orbán suffered a humiliating defeat with 34.95 percent of the votes, Le Monde reports. He quotes the words of the failed candidate, Péter Márki-Zay: "I'm disappointed, like everyone else. We didn't expect such a result", and the author of the article adds that for the opposition - which gathered all its energy and hoped to replace Orbán - this election result is like a huge blow delivered with a pitchfork.

HOWEVER, LE MONDE ADDS THAT THE OPPOSITION'S SIX-PARTY COLLECTION WAS ALSO VARIETY, WHICH INCLUDE ALL FORMATIONS FROM THE CLASSIC LEFT TO THE RADICAL RIGHT-WING PROFILE.

The series of blunders of the joint candidate of the coalition reflected political inexperience and an excessively provocative personality to the voters. Thus, the six-party "cocktail" ultimately fails, Le Monde writes in its analysis.
