The public body awards were presented at the general meeting of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (MMA) on Tuesday in Vigado, Pest.

Lifetime Achievement Award to Csíky Boldizsár, Transylvanian composer, teacher, musicologist; the Grand Prize to István Jelenczki, film director, cinematographer, photographer and visual artist; the Gold Medal to the Franciscan monk Csaba Böjte, the founder of the Saint Francis Foundation of Déva; the Art Historian Róbert Nátyi Award for Art Writers; the Flórián Kováts Memorial Medal was awarded to architect, art writer, visual and set designer György Szegő.

According to the information of the MMA, at its general meeting on September 27 last year, it decided on the donation of the 2021 public body permanent awards. The awards were supposed to be presented at the general assembly on December 6 last year, which was postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

A Lifetime Achievement Award can be given to a distinguished artist of Hungarian intellectual life whose outstanding work and oeuvre is an example of devoted, selfless work for the rise and survival of the nation, which does not lack personal courage.

Csíky Boldizsár carried out research into the past of musical life in Marosvásárhely, in addition to his musical and creative activities, he also played and represented the cause of Hungarians in Transylvania, and after the death of András Sütő assumed a leading role in this field. His works have been presented in many concert halls in Europe, in Japan and in the United States - academician Péter Tóth, head of the Department of Music at the MMA, praised the awardee. A grand prize can be awarded to an academician who has created a work of art or theoretical work of outstanding importance in the previous two years.

István Jelenczki, a Hungarian Heritage Award-winning film director, cinematographer, photographer and visual artist, regular member of the MMA, has more than four decades of filmmaking work at the forefront of Hungarian documentary filmmaking - emphasized Sándor Buglya, regular member of the MMA, head of the Department of Film and Photography, in his eulogy, adding : In his films, István Jelenczki consistently deals with the acute problems of Hungarian society, with prominent personalities of our artistic life, and in his works about Hungarian history, he seeks the truth.

A gold medal can be awarded to a person or organization that has contributed to raising the social recognition of Hungarian culture and art with their work, financial support, other donations or activities.

Csaba Böjte, a Franciscan monk, created a child rescue organization with the aim of helping children in Transylvania who live in miserable conditions, often on the brink of starvation. Thanks to his work, more than 2,500 children are now being raised in one of the institution's homes. Today, the children's home operates residential institutions in more than 25 cities of Transylvania and day care centers in around fifty settlements, Péter Tóth reminded.

The Art Writers' Award can be awarded to an art writer who has contributed to making Hungarian art a public treasure through his outstanding and persistently high-quality activity, educational, art theory or art critic work, thereby enhancing and preserving the values ​​of Hungarian culture.

Art historian Róbert Nátyi has more than 180 international and domestic exhibitions and almost 200 exhibition openings as curator and director. His research covers, among other things, iconography, iconology, curatorial activity, art forgery, the history of Hungarian art collecting and the subject of fine art in Szeged, Péter Tóth praised the laureate.

The Flórián Kováts Memorial can be awarded to a person who performs significant artistic and cultural organizational work through his professional or civil activities, or who carries out outstanding activities in the field of art organization and art administration.

György Szegő is the curator and designer of major architectural and art exhibitions, such as the 2002 Dreaming of Dreams exhibition in Millenáris Park, as well as the co-curator of the Hungarian exhibition at the 2000 Venice Architecture Biennale. Numerous thematic exhibitions - including the I. and II. In addition to organizing the National Architecture Salon, it is at the forefront of the transfer of international exhibition practice to Hungary by presenting the current results of contemporary visual culture and art. His work has significantly contributed to the fact that the number of visitors to the Art Gallery has tripled in recent years, highlighted Sándor Buglya in his eulogy.
