While the Soros organizations celebrate the ineffectiveness of the referendum and demand the immediate repeal of the Child Protection Act, the Protected Society Foundation recommends an addition to the Civil Code in the spirit of the points of the referendum.
The campaign of Amnesty International Hungary, Háttér Társaság (formerly known as Háttér Társaság a Melegékért) and twelve other "civil organizations" and the left supporting them was partially "successful" in the case of the child protection referendum, the more than three and a half million "no" ” vote, the referendum was ineffective due to one and a half million invalid votes.
Referring to this, the mentioned organizations demand the "immediate" repeal of the Child Protection Act.
"Love won over hate", "one and all of you are wonderful", Amensty commented on its Facebook page, while as a result of several months of harassment and precise instructions for invalid voting, one and a half million people drew it full of genitalia or "only" flowers and bugs , cats and dogs for the ballots - many came with colored pencils for this purpose, obviously for the greater glory of democracy - while there were long lines in front of the polling stations due to the time-consuming illustrations.
At ninety-nine percent processing, the answers to the four questions are as follows. Do you support the holding of classes on sexual orientation for minors in public educational institutions without parental consent? Valid votes: 3,630,516 people, invalid votes: 1,591,604 people, number of genders: 3,355,258. Do you support the promotion of gender reassignment treatments for minor children? Valid votes: 3,601,536 people, invalid votes: 1,620,584 people, number of genders: 3,455,695. Do you support showing minor children sexual media content that affects their development without restrictions? Valid votes: 3,593,518 people, invalid votes: 1,628,602 people, number of genders: 3,427,753. Do you support showing media content showing gender change to minors? Valid votes: 3,591,354 people, invalid votes: 1,630,766 people, number of genders: 3,420,236.
Responding to the results, the Protected Society Foundation emphasized: the overwhelming majority of the answers to the questions in the nationwide referendum on child protection issues were answered no, since the referendum is not considered legally valid, and does not bind the Parliament in terms of how it will comply with laws affecting the moral development of minor children. to the clear popular will expressed by more than three million Hungarians related to sexual content. Therefore, the Budapest Committee of the Protected Society Foundation recommends that the Parliament extend the privacy protection section of the Civil Code to the parental right to provide for the moral development of minors.
Thus, every parent is given the right to make a preliminary decision as to whether presentations or other sessions depicting homosexuality, different sexual orientations, gender reassignment or gender reassignment treatments, relativizing or questioning the self-identity corresponding to the birth gender can be held for their child. The same parental right of disposal is ensured for making any written, pictorial, audiovisual, digital or other informational or media content accessible to minors.
Thus, instead of new regulations, the Parliament expands the already existing privacy rights protection system according to the clear popular will shown by the child protection referendum. The Civil Code the introduction of the following new rule completely settles all four questions of the referendum, and even gives parents an even wider right of disposition than they would have had if the referendum had finally been legally binding.
According to the proposal, the following text should be added to the Criminal Code: "For minors, the parent or guardian of the parent or guardian of presentations or other sessions that depict homosexuality, different sexual orientations, gender reassignment or gender reassignment treatments, relativize or question the self-identity corresponding to the sex at birth consent is required. The consent of the parent or guardian of the person concerned is required to make available to a minor person written, pictorial, audiovisual, digital or other information or media content depicting homosexuality, different sexual orientations, gender reassignment or gender reassignment treatments, relativizing or questioning the self-identity corresponding to the sex at birth.
Since the issues showed huge social support, far more people voted no than voted for the governing parties, which shows that child protection objectives are above party political camps, the Protected Society Foundation pointed out. They added that their proposal could ensure that "the children of the three million voters who voted no do not suffer a disadvantage."
