The government commissioner responsible for the development of modern settlements announced on Monday at a press conference in Budapest that HUF 61.5 billion will go to the villages in the thirteen applications of the Hungarian village program that have been evaluated so far.

Alpár Gyopáros announced that in the 13 calls for tenders, almost 4,400 applicants, primarily from municipalities and parishes, won HUF 61.5 billion in support. The list of winning applicants will be published on the kormany.hu website on Tuesday afternoon, he added.

According to his words, the most successful tenders are repeated year after year, and there are also new tenders every year. Alpár Gyopáros indicated that the most popular call for tenders for years has been the tender aimed at purchasing communal equipment: local governments can purchase equipment and machines that can help them maintain a good image of the settlement.

The economy is constantly strengthening, the unemployment rate is low, so "with a slight exaggeration, in some villages, the public employees who helped to maintain the good image of the settlement have completely run out", he said.

He continued: in connection with the renovation of roads, streets, and bicycle paths, from this year it was also possible to apply for the construction and development of rainwater drainage ditches, as well as the construction and development of external public spaces.

Alpár Gyopáros emphasized: the change, which also has quantifiable results. Among them, he mentioned that "a demographic breakthrough was achieved in the villages".

He also mentioned that since 2019, 27,000 winning tenders have been announced, for which more than HUF 300 billion have been secured.

The ruling party politician, the Fidesz member of parliament of the 3rd electoral district of Győr-Moson-Sopron county, thanked the people living in the villages for their participation in the April 3rd parliamentary election, after "the government parties won extremely high support in the villages, in addition to the extremely high participation rate".

"We continue the Hungarian village program because we believe" in the villages, said the government commissioner, indicating that further tender results will be announced after Easter.
