No one can do that by putting their own political goals first and disregarding the will of the voters - Lénárd Borbély, Fidesz mayor of Csepel, commented on Momentum's decision to Magyar Nemzet. The politicians of the liberal party announced that they will not participate in the inaugural session of the Parliament, but this also affects several representatives elected in individual constituencies in Budapest, who are asked by local politicians to consider their decision, since they have been authorized to represent the voters.
If someone applies for a job that means representing the electorate or the population, then, in his opinion, he cannot do so by putting his own political goals first and disregarding the will of the electorate
Lénárd Borbély (Fidesz-KDNP), mayor of Csepel, told Magyar Nemzet The XXI. district, Szabolcs Szabó defended his mandate on April 3, who ran as a candidate for Together in the previous elections. After that, he sat in the LMP faction for a short time, and this year he signed up for Momentum. In this regard, the local mayor noted that it is difficult to keep track of Szabó Szabolcs is in, but he decides how he represents his constituents, and the constituents will evaluate that.
All Lénárd Borbély asked of the re-elected left-wing representative was to at least not hinder Csepel's development and to try to be happy about the successes they are achieving together with the residents of the district. - I think that a politician should primarily represent the voters, not his political community - said the mayor, who is of course aware that Szabolcs Szabó is not pro-government, but in his opinion he could still help local issues, which he has not done since 2014 (when he became a representative). there was an example.
"So far, he has only crossed us, his political performance is roughly the same as speaking through a loudspeaker in the parliament," Lénárd Borbély added, noting that in Csepel, which was previously considered a left-wing stronghold, the advantage of the left-wing candidate decreased in the current election.
Representing a community is an honorable responsibility. All of us who took part in the parliamentary elections wanted a representative who is present in the parliament and who stands up for South Buda - this is already the case in the neighboring XXII. one of the municipal representatives of the district wrote to Endre Tóth, a politician of Momentum who won in another individual constituency. Zoltán Németh, who has been a municipal representative in Budafok since 1990, wrote that the participation in the inaugural meeting was "an important gesture for the residents of the constituency". He recalls that between 2010 and 2014 he himself worked as a member of parliament, and for this reason he wants to convince the newly elected representative (with whom he is currently a local council representative in the district) to change his decision.
"It was uplifting to enter the house of the country with the feeling and awareness of it, to take part in the inaugural session, to take an oath that figuratively the population of an entire electoral district was there with me," said Zoltán Németh, who said that voters expect every elected representative to represent them "Hungary in its most important body".
"It was in my head how many beautiful memories are connected to the district and my place of residence, from my high school years through my youth to later times," he recalled. The local politician's letter was also shared by the Fidesz mayor of the district, Ferenc Karsay, who suggests that Endre Tóth consider the thoughts of his fellow representative.
