The Hungarian government will increase the cross-border education support several times over, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén announced at the press conference after the Hungarian Permanent Congress (MÁÉRT) meeting in Budapest on Friday. The closing statement of the meeting was signed by all present.

He said: currently the amount of support is HUF 22,400, per child and per school year. Transcarpathian Hungarians can receive the increased allowance from now, and the rest of the nation from the next school year.

Currently, a total of 225,000 people benefit from the support.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated: under no circumstances will the subsidies due to Transcarpathia be reduced, even increased, they are in the most difficult situation. "War here, energy crisis there", there are areas to which a strong signal must be sent that we will not give in to national goals, he underlined.

He touched on the fact that, for example, in many cases social support is delivered personally in addition to institutional frameworks. Therefore, all Hungarians who wish to receive this support should contact the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association, he asked.

Zsolt Semjén explained in detail the national political programs implemented since 2010: the operation of five thousand institutions was supported, and 5,400 investments were made in foreign territories. This year alone, they helped 2,372 institutions and programs, he indicated.

He added: they maintain and support the educational network from the nursery school to the university, helping the education of 300,000 Hungarian children. He reported that 250 weekend and Sunday schools were supported in the diaspora. According to his summary, more than HUF 200 billion have been spent on education since 2010.

Detailing further developments, he highlighted that almost a thousand kindergartens were renovated or built in the Carpathian Basin, and another 200 playgrounds were created.

1,600 new foreign churches were built or renovated since 2010, 140 billion were spent on cultural purposes, of which 2,500 cultural investments could be realized. In addition to all this, 300 developments related to the youth sector were made.

Zsolt Semjén described the programs implemented in the field of economy as revolutionary, stressing that they contribute not only to the preservation of identity, but also to everyday living. 145 equipped educational farms and educational workshops were created, 60,000 enterprises were supported with resources of 200 billion. All this resulted in HUF 400 billion worth of investment in foreign territories, he explained, adding that 3,500 business development programs were implemented.

He also touched on the fact that midwives and pediatric networks have been established throughout the Carpathian Basin.

In response to the question of whether they fear that Hungary will be hit by an incident similar to the one in Poland, the Deputy Prime Minister repeated what was said earlier by the Hungarian government: if there is a war in your neighbor, you are not safe either. The events confirm the correctness of Hungarian politics, he pointed out. He pointed out: this is why weapons are not allowed to be shipped from Hungary to Ukraine. These deliveries would take place through Transcarpathia, exposing the Hungarians there to considerable danger. He emphasized: Subcarpathia is the only area that has not been hit by a missile attack.

In response to another question, he congratulated the results of the Hungarian parties in the elections in the Highlands and Voivodeship.
