The guests of the most recent Civil Academy – political scientist Zoltán Kiszely and director of the Opera House Szilveszter Ókovács – shared their thoughts on the election results, their consequences and the reasons for the opposition's defeat.
The political scientist expects the continuation of unorthodox politics from the Fidesz-KDNP party alliance, which won a two-thirds victory for the fourth time. He said it was extremely important to secure the energy supply and end the war as soon as possible. He expects that we will continue to have serious disputes with Brussels.
Szilveszter Ókovács called it brain fog that those who want to turn off the gas tap are not those who give it, but those who receive it. Regarding the government's policy of supporting cultural areas, he mentioned the example of the Opera. He noted that this area is important for the Christian-conservative side even if they are not opera fans personally, but know that it is an important segment for others.
