Draft speech to the Ukrainian ambassador Ljubov Nepop, which he probably should have said more.
Dear Hungarians!
Thank you for being one of the first to recognize the existence of independent Ukraine, and for the sake of good neighborly relations, you quickly and easily overcame the fact that Transcarpathia, which was not even mentioned in the Paris Peace Treaty, became part of Ukraine, and also that you disregarded the county's autonomy decided in a referendum and implemented a centralized government we introduced In return, we made an agreement that
that none of our countries harms the minorities belonging to the other living in its territory,
and you complied with this to the maximum extent.
Thank you for including the Ruthenians, whom we consider Ukrainians, as a constituent nationality in the 2011 constitution.
Thank you for actively helping our Western integration for more than a decade with all the tools of diplomacy, especially between 2014 and 2017, both in the EU and NATO.
Thank you for helping to bring the EU association agreement under the roof, for helping to arrange visa-free entry into the EU.
Thank you for including us as a partner in V4.
Thank you for pouring money into Transcarpathia since 2010,
thanks to you, we have renovated public kindergartens, equipped hospitals, many times the people of Transcarpathia owe you clean drinking water and medicines, not only the 10-12 percent of Hungarians, but all the other people.
Thank you for continuing all such programs against all our rudeness and continuing to this day.
Thank you for sending hundreds of tons of aid to Ukraine, helping to prevent starvation and even deeper poverty in this terrible situation.
Thank you for helping our more than half a million compatriots fleeing the war, regardless of their nationality,
or how long they stay in Hungary.
We thank all Hungarian citizens for their selfless help and the previous, but especially the current, Hungarian government, which carried out all of this in a way that, in the meantime, many people questioned the raison d'être of helping Subcarpathia in various ways.
We regret that since 2017, thanks to Ukraine, a repressive education law, a repressive language law and a repressive citizenship law have been in place, and that this trend is only getting stronger. You were not in the crosshairs, but the Russians, it is incomprehensible why we keep firing at you.
We regret that, despite all your help and support, we are carrying out ever-increasing media propaganda against you and the Transcarpathian Hungarians, accusing you of revisionism and them of separatism.
We regret that anti-Hungarian political actions and provocations are taking place in our area.
We regret that we took part in the Hungarian election campaign in such a clear way, interfering in the Hungarian elections in a way that we would have turned into a scandal interspersed with bans.
We regret that we are continuing all this even now without the introduction of any sanctions in Hungary.
The fifty-sixth parallel was very not nice, you are right, I don't remember that Imre Nagy demanded non-stop instead of asking.
We especially regret the way our president communicates with you, about you, comparing you to the perpetrators of the mass murders in Bucsa, even though he knows exactly that if Europe did not import more Russian energy carriers, we would be the first to freeze.
We would also like to express our regret because our president talked about how Viktor Orbán did not dare to go to Kiev and look him in the eye, even though he has not been able to give the nod to a bilateral meeting for three years, no matter how the Hungarian side tried to achieve this.
We are asking you, let's put a veil over the past! Now, when we really need friends, we don't want to turn more neighbors against us. Our country is in a terrible state, thousands have died and millions have fled, this is what we must focus on,
rather than fighting against a helping country.
We know that this cannot go on like this, so we promise that we will change.
