László Topán announced on his community page that he is leaving the Momentum Movement and the party's Pécs parliamentary group. As he wrote, he could explain his decision with "many reasons", but he singled out one: "I do not wish to be a prisoner, a useful fool or even an accomplice of ambitious individuals or immunodeficient organizations".
László Topán wrote in his post:
At that time, I joined Momentum and took on a public role – partially interrupting my civilian professional career – because I saw an opportunity to build a better country. At that time, it seemed that there was a political will and an adequate organization to ensure that we were not a country without consequences. In 2019, at a press conference at the market square in Pécs, we promised voters a new political culture. Unfortunately, I have to say: it's not over yet. By the way, everyone has to deal with their own conscience.
With the decision of László Topán, the Momentum faction in the local assembly was dissolved.
