Hungarian organizations abroad won HUF 2 billion in support in two calls for tenders of the National Restart Program 2022, of which 2,372 projects and goals will be realized, announced the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office for National Policy on Wednesday in Budapest.

János Árpád Potápi recalled at a press conference that Hungarian organizations abroad could submit applications for operations, development and equipment acquisition worth HUF 1.5 billion in the first call for tenders, and HUF 500 million for the implementation of their programs and events in the second call.

The first tender received 2,473 applications, of which 1,385 received funding. Of the 2,312 applications received for the second, 987 won, the state secretary explained.

János Árpád Potápi announced in connection with the war in Ukraine:

a total of HUF 68.9 million from the two appeals will be used for humanitarian and charitable purposes, with which they will help the Hungarians who remained in Transcarpathia and the refugees from the interior of Ukraine. The state secretary estimated the number of the latter at more than 300,000.

The ruling party politician emphasized that the Hungarian government will provide all assistance to those in trouble, whether Hungarian or Ukrainian, and not only to those who have arrived in Hungary, but also to internal refugees who are accommodated in Hungarian-run institutions, kindergartens, and schools in Transcarpathia.

Speaking about the further details of the tenders, János Árpád Potápi said that in the first tender, the amount of non-refundable support that could be won with one tender ranged from 300,000 forints to 5 million forints, and in the second from 300,000 forints to one million forints.

He also recalled that the tenders were announced in six sub-programmes in both tenders - educational, cultural, church, sports, youth, scouting and community, diaspora.

The State Secretary stated that the Hungarian government stands behind and supports goals that are important to Hungarians abroad.
