In Slovenia, the price of regular gasoline rose by about eight percent, and that of diesel by more than twenty percent, after the government lifted the price cap, Euractiv wrote, the news was seen by Portfólió.hu.
The website reminded us: the price of normal gasoline per liter is 1,617-1,619 euros depending on the service provider, and on highways it can be up to 1,628 euros (618-622 forints calculated at today's exchange rate). Until Saturday, the upper limit was 1,503 euros and 574 forints. The price of diesel jumped to the range of 1,817-1,824 euros (694-697 forints) at major service providers, and even higher at some smaller gas stations.
The article recalled: prices were maximized in mid-March to mitigate the rise in energy prices on world markets. Late last week, the government there said the measure would not be extended as markets had stabilized. The price freeze was not introduced by the same government as the one that introduced it: on April 24, the newly established center-left Freedom Movement (Gibanje Svoboda) founded by Robert Golob won the elections, replacing the right-wing Slovenian Democratic Party led by Prime Minister Janez Jansa.
