Brussels is also attacking our country because of its migration policy, according to Hélène Laporte, head of the European Parliament delegation of National Consolidation. The French politician also spoke to Magyar Hírlap about how the electoral system puts his party at a disadvantage, which Emmanuel Macron is in no hurry to reform either. Written by Mariann Őry.
– There is an ongoing procedure against Hungary according to the seventh article of the basic EU treaty, and recently the so-called rule of law conditionality mechanism was also sharpened. Does Brussels have a legal basis for this?
– The concept of the rule of law is still vague, it does not have a well-founded and uniform legal definition at the European Union level. In the hands of the European Union, this concept turns into a real political tool, with which they put pressure on countries like Hungary and Poland to influence the policies they want to implement, especially migration policy. These countries - which have nevertheless shown exemplary solidarity with Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict - are thus deprived of EU funds that would otherwise go to the member states. ...– How do you see the future of cooperation between European sovereignist parties, including Fidesz?
- The cooperation between the various European patriotic and sovereignist parties is on the right track. We meet regularly, especially with Fidesz, to strengthen its cooperation within the European Parliament. We also organize meetings and coordinate our vote. In Madrid in January, we signed a joint declaration on a European Union that respects the sovereignty, freedom and traditions of the member states.
