Historian Professor Mária Schmidt, the House of Terror and the XXI. In his discussion article written at the request of PestiSrácok.hu, the director-general of the Század Institute offers firm advice to the fifth Orbán government, which is working under "difficult conditions".

The fourth consecutive two-thirds victory of Fidesz-KDNP is a huge success and joy, but also a great responsibility. In particular, it is necessary to continue governing on a difficult path, where maintaining the results achieved so far will be a trying task.

Hungarian voters voted for Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and the Fidesz-KDNP because their standard of living improved significantly during the 12 years of their government. Their self-esteem and, as a result, their self-confidence increased. The vast majority of Hungarian voters agreed that the protection and support of families and children is at the center of government policy , and that its primary goal is the financial appreciation of those who raise children. They support the government in representing national interests, in its measures to strengthen the nation, and in the protection of national sovereignty.

After twelve consecutive years in government, Fidesz-KDNP collected both anti-elite and protest votes. The reason is because the unified opposition that lined up against him offered the past that had already been rejected several times, the hatred of Orbán, as well as the uncritical worship of the West. It was filled with political content that interested no one outside of a narrow bubble in the capital, but scared off everyone else. They threatened a constitutional coup and threatened to subvert the social order, which alarmed the silent majority. As well as how they reacted to the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The fifth Orbán government, which has just begun its work, continues to govern under difficult circumstances: war is raging in our neighborhood, crises and crises are piling up in Europe and the world, the strength and outcome of which are not yet visible, but everyone can already feel its forewinds. In the past three terms, Orbán had to deal with crises continuously. This period left behind us was like a car race where you have to change a wheel on the fly. It started with a financial and economic world crisis, and with the fact that we had to start from a situation close to state bankruptcy. It continued with a coronavirus epidemic bringing devastation not seen in a hundred years, which paralyzed the entire world. Now our continent is threatened by war and the resulting economic emergency.

The US intends to make Europe a belligerent party as well

On February 24, 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine, and this, after no more limited, local war, now increasingly carries the risk of profoundly changing the world we have lived in for the last thirty years. The war, and this is now clear to everyone, is being waged by the USA with Russia through the Ukrainians. And he intends to make Europe a belligerent party as well. In retaliation for Russian aggression, the USA responded with an economic, financial, commercial, cultural and legal war. With this, he set total global goals. As a continuation of the USA's centuries-old export of democracy, it wants to implement a regime change in Russia and the removal of President Putin. It aims to completely isolate and disable Russia. In doing so, it is telling the world that anyone who turns against it or opposes its interests will be wiped off the map, even if it is a former great power with huge economic resources that also has a nuclear arsenal. Those who question the Pax Americana will meet this fate.

Europe is the primary victim of the economic and financial sanctions that have already been announced and launched. The leaders of the European Union are fulfilling the new demands of the American shell without question, which will cause serious livelihood problems for the European citizens. They have to adapt to a shortage of food, raw materials and fuel, which can be coupled with huge unemployment. Russia provides almost 40 percent of Europe's energy supply, relatively cheap and reliable. At the demand of the USA, our continent should give up Russian gas and oil without any possibility of replacing them. The cessation of Ukrainian and Russian grain exports may result in a food crisis in those countries that have covered their needs from them until now. The EU leaders arrange all this by not heating our homes above 18 degrees, not showering so much and ventilating rather than washing our clothes. The majority of Europeans do not want to believe their ears and do not yet take it seriously that all this could happen. But if the Russian energy supply really stops, they will quickly come to their senses. Social discontent can develop during a storm, the consequences of which are unpredictable.

Germany, a giant standing on clay feet

Europe's main problem stems from the fact that it does not have self-interest representation. Western Europe has now become fully Americanized, unable to distinguish its own interests from those of the USA. It is chilling to see how vulnerable Germany, with a population of 80 million, has become, how unable to resist the suicidal policy imposed on it by the reigning gerontocrats of the USA. For a long time, Germany seemed to be the strongest state in Europe. By now, even the giant mark on the clay feet is quite flattering and exaggerated for him.

The war also seems to threaten the seemingly close Polish-Hungarian friendship, because the Poles, in their hysterical anti-Russian attitude, believe that they will be safe under the protective umbrella of their unconditional American friendship. What will happen to them if the Americans and Russians make peace and come to terms? If a new American administration will focus on the Pacific Ocean and turn its back on Europe, which until then had become uninteresting?

The Biden administration, which serves the US military industry lobby, decided the other day on the new 33 billion dollar military supplies to Ukraine, two-thirds of which will remain with the US arms manufacturers. And as Ben Wallace said, that is not a high price to pay to completely weaken the Russians and cut them off from their European energy markets. At the end of the Second World War, the US Treasury Secretary, Morgenthau , came up with a plan aimed at the deindustrialization of Germany, which would have reduced the standard of living and the level of education of its population to African levels. Then this project did not receive political support. Can you get it now?

They came to us with the same recipe that they used to elect Zelenskyi

The tellers, academic and media workers, as well as the political elite of the western half of Europe are completely Americanized. Its cultural preferences, themes, and aspirations are indistinguishable from those of the American motherland.

In the April elections, the American and Western decision-makers behind the opposition went for it and did everything in order to put the scalp of our country on their target marking the new locations of democracy export successes. They came with the same recipe with which Zelensky was elected. The most comprehensive unity, one could say a patriotic People's Front 2.0, was organized against Orbán, gathering the neoliberals and socialists, the greens and nuclear believers, the post-communists and the post-Sagittarius into one camp. Although in many places they successfully removed the leaders who were not sufficiently, that is, not completely pro-American, they were an orbital failure in our country. Their non-partisan, Canadian-Hungarian civilian candidate did not reach the level that Hungarians expect from their leaders.

The protagonist (and producer) of the Ukrainian soap opera "Servant of the People", which, according to press reports, was generously supported by America, is former comedian Volodymyr Zelenskyi In the story, the humble and honest high school history teacher declares war on corruption and is elected president of Ukraine overnight. Zelensky and his company partners also founded a party called "Servant of the People" in parallel with the filming of the film, and by the time the popular TV series ended in 2019, Zelensky was elected president in reality. Due to another failure of democracy export in Hungary, we remained a thorn in the eyes of the American and European leaders. That's why they immediately launched against us the procedure codenamed "rule of law", which means the punishment of dissent and disobedience by taking away money. The rule of law is a rubber concept like the public interest used in socialism, which would have been damaged by our journey to the West if they had let us out. That is why, for example, in Denmark, it is within the rule of law to deport their migrants who are considered undesirable to Kosovo. In Italy, it fits within the rule of law that they plan to use artificial intelligence to monitor every movement in the lives of their citizens , similar to the Chinese communists. The difference is that the latter is unbearable. The legal states of the developed West confiscate the property, houses, and ships of Russians without being in a state of war with Russia. Restrict Russians' access to their own savings and bank accounts. I am not talking about a few "oligarchs", but about Russians, by collective standards, about all of them. Oh, and they want to transfer the incoming amount to Ukraine. All of this fits into the rule of law, except that we block the LGBTQ movement, we do not allow our children to be enlightened about gender reassignment procedures, we prevented the entire Hungarian media from becoming the voice of America, as in the West. 444 is enough for us. In their formulation, this means that we have neither the rule of law nor freedom of the press.

We really need to go forward, not back!

In summary: the protection of our national interests is not well received by the mighty American empire and its European proxies. There is a danger that we will have to rely on the Russian energy supply alone, because without it our economy will stop and we will not be able to cook or heat. Orbán, that is, our country, will be under more and more pressure every day. We are only now recovering from the Covid crisis, we have not yet returned to the normal way of life before the quarantine. We must continue to reform health care, education and national defense. (In a few sentences, the author thought about the possible restoration of general conscription, but the Ministry of War rejected the idea - ed.)

Hungary has a government that stands on the ground of real politics and represents Hungarian national interests. It is an important Hungarian national interest that the lives of Hungarian citizens are safe, that we preserve peace, that everyone has work and bread. We hope that the warring parties will be able to come to an agreement and make peace as soon as possible. Peace is like air, as long as it is there, we don't even notice it, but its absence makes our lives impossible.

The task of the Hungarian government is to do everything it can to end the war as soon as possible and to avoid further escalation. And to find allies. As people's eyes in the West open more and more, new opportunities will arise.
