During the reconstruction of Budavári Palace, seventy years later, the remains of its special turn-of-the-century fireplaces were found. According to the information of the Castle Administration, the recently discovered finds also include elements of the fireplaces made in the Andrássy and Deák halls.

One of the main goals of the National Haussmann Program led by the Castle Administration is the complete reconstruction of the Buda Castle, so that visitors can once again admire the complex in its turn-of-the-century light. During the preparation of the renovation, the walls, basements and closed spaces of the building complex are currently being researched, during which the specialists come across valuable finds from time to time.

The experts found, for example, pieces of the slates decorating the roof of the Haussmannian building, the green inlaid and patterned white ceramic floor coverings of the kitchen, confectionery and other service areas, as well as some characteristic pieces of the colorfully patterned Zsolnay wall coverings of the same areas.

According to their most recent announcement, in the utility tunnel connecting buildings marked D and F in the south, after almost seventy years, several priceless pieces of the palace's former fireplaces have been found. During the identification of the finds, it was revealed that the largest group, consisting of sixteen pieces, contains the elements of the fireplaces made at the turn of the century in the former rooms of the Krisztinaváros wing, in the Andrássy and Deák halls. In addition to these, two particularly beautifully carved pieces were found from the marble fireplace of the dining room located between the royal suite and the first princely suite. An additional, beautifully crafted element belonged to the corner fireplace of the Cercle room, located between the dining room and the Szent István room.
