According to Balázs Hidvéghi, a member of the European Parliament of Fidesz, the left-wing elite dominating the European Parliament (EP) is increasingly disconnected from reality, and instead of problems affecting people, they deal with the rule of law debate in a war situation, despite the food and energy crisis.

The representative of Radio Kossuth Good morning, Hungary! in his program, he spoke about the fact that the EP would extend the rule of law investigation to the entire range of EU values. He said that, among other things, the latest proposal says that the European Commission should be a controlling, "punitive body" and that the member states would be classified by introducing indicators, such as the "civil space indicator". These have nothing to do with the contracts and the powers laid down in them, he noted.

He emphasized: no one disputes that the financial interests of the Union must be protected and that EU funds must be spent in accordance with the law, but for years the left-wing majority of the EP wants to use an "ideological dictatorship", impose moral categories, and take action against those who refuse them.

This constantly weakens the European Union, because it destroys trust and mutual respect between the member states, which makes cooperation difficult, he emphasized.

The oil embargo due to the Russian-Ukrainian war was also put on the agenda because the EU no longer takes into account the viewpoints of all member states - he believed, stressing that the acceptance of the sanction would "bring Hungary to its knees" and other member states as well, and would endanger people's energy supply and security .

The government always puts the interests and protection of Hungary and the Hungarian people first, so "this is a red line for us," he declared.

Balázs Hidvéghi also touched on the fact that the EU could do much more to advance the peace negotiations, but in the EP "decisions and texts that lead nowhere, bigoted, loud texts are only spoken, and things are not moving towards the resolution of the conflict", as well as the strengthening of the EU instead of "time is spent on bad, unnecessary topics".
