This year's pilgrimage to Csíksomlyo will take place according to the pre-pandemic system, both in terms of church ceremonies and traffic rules, but there will be changes at the fair - reported Csíkszereda mayor Attila Korodi and Erik Urbán, head of the Transylvanian Franciscan Order.

The program for this year's Pentecost farewell is as follows: on Friday, June 3, there will be a prayer hour in the Church of God from 5:00 p.m., the opening mass of the farewell will begin at 6:00 p.m., and then the faithful can participate in an all-night vigil. On Saturday, the day of farewell, confession is held in the square in front of the church from six o'clock in the morning, and holy mass from half past eight. From the square in front of the church, the dignitaries leave for the Hármashalom altar at 10:30, where the Holy Mass begins at 1:30 with a speech by Archbishop György Udvardy of Veszprém.

From five o'clock in the afternoon, there will be a Csángo Mass in the parish church in Csíksomlyó, and from six o'clock in the Holy Church, there will be a Pentecost Eve mass, which will be followed by an all-night vigil. On Pentecost Sunday, a festive mass is held at half past eleven. Erik Urbán justified the choice of this year's farewell motto by saying that pax et bonum, i.e. peace and goodness, are two things that we all long for after an epidemic and during a war in a neighboring country. "In the last four weeks, the local government has consulted with several institutions in order to provide suitable conditions for the pilgrimage to the crowd coming for the farewell. The task of the city is to create a dignified environment on such a holiday, in which the pilgrims can get to the saddle and then go home safely," said Attila Korodi. He added that this year, apart from books, church-related publications, folk art products, water and pastries, you cannot buy anything else at the Szék street fair, but the city's shops and catering units will be open.

The police and gendarmes of Hargita County will ensure order with the help of their colleagues from Maros County. Traffic regulations during the farewell In a press release, the Csíkszereda municipality draws attention to the fact that the Csíksomlyo routes used by pilgrims will be closed to car traffic from ten o'clock on Friday evening, and will be gradually released after the departure of the farewell crowd.

Local residents can drive into their street until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday and from 6:00 p.m. on Saturday with proof of their address, but on the day of the farewell, only official cars and those with an entry permit can drive in the following streets: Szék útja - the entire length of Nagymező utca - the entire length of Kissomlyó utca - along its entire length Kájoni János utca - from Nagymező utca to Agyagfalvi utca Nagyrét utca - from the roundabout next to the Lukoil gas station to Szék utca Taploca utca - from the Taploca roundabout to Szék utca Márton Áron utca - from the roundabout next to the reformed church to Szék utca on the stretch Hunyadi János utca - from the temporary roundabout close to the cemetery to Szék ut.

Buses coming from the west, from Székelyudvarhely, can park in Hajnal utca, Akác utca, Fürdő utca and Baromtér utca, as well as in the northern part of the industrial zone, in the street leading from Rét utca to the former slaughterhouse. Those arriving from Felcsík or Gyimesek can park on the sections of the national road that extend from the two affected roundabouts of the diversion road to the Taploca roundabout.
