With 118 votes in favor, 49 against, and one abstention, the Parliament suspended the immunity of Tímea Szabó, the co-chair of the Dialogue, which the representative will lose due to the offense of defamation. At the same time, the immunity of Szabó's party colleague, Bence Tordai, was not revoked, as only 13 MPs supported it, while 145 voted against it.
According to the legislation, the representatives cannot be held responsible before the court or other authority based on the right of immunity, and for this reason, no criminal proceedings can be initiated against them. However, Tímea Szabó was deprived of this right - with the yes vote of two-thirds of the representatives present - and thus criminal proceedings can begin against her.
As Magyar Nemzet wrote a few days ago , the names of both politicians were linked to scandals, for which Szabó and Tordai had previously received fines of almost ten million.
The deputies also decided in favor of the two dialogue politicians in the case of the Armenian national advocate Nikogosz Apkopyan, whose immunity was suspended with 169 yes votes.
