According to Kata Tüttő, a smaller energy bill will bring peace to Europe, which is why the deputy mayor of the left wing of Budapest is asking people to save, namely to heat, cool, cook and drive less. However, it is unlikely that Tüttő will start saving on his own, as the politician made headlines last summer by riding out of the sea on the Greek island of Zakynthos. Just one such stunt could cost hundreds of thousands of forints, not to mention the rest of the vacation.
The left-wing Budapest city government would join the Brussels initiative, the essence of which is that people heat, cool, cook and drive less in order to consume less energy. The Deputy Mayor Kata Tüttő also spoke about the project called the Energy Saving Sprint of the Cities on Spirit FM's Aktuál program on Thursday.
In response to the presenter's question, which are the capital-owned companies with the highest consumption and where they are trying to save money, Kata Tüttő mentioned district heating first. - The Budapest district heating company solves the heating of 220,000 apartments, which is obviously the largest consumption. Public transport in Budapest, if you think about it, now fuel is obviously also part of our problem package, just like buses, so trams, metros, trolleybuses, they consume a lot of electricity, don't they, and not at reduced utility prices - said Tüttő, including public lighting too. In connection with the latter topic, it was also mentioned in the program that for the time being Budapest does not plan to turn off public lighting at night, as in some agglomeration settlements.
Kata Tüttő emphasized that, in connection with the Cities Energy Saving Sprint initiative, this could not only solve the issue of rising energy prices, but also the issue of peace, since according to the deputy mayor, if Europe buys less energy from Russia, the war will end sooner. It is worth highlighting: this is a speculative idea, according to many experts, the Russians will continue until they achieve their goals.
And the decrease in European energy deliveries is far from causing such a headache for Moscow, as it raises the price of energy carriers, which are sold on the Asian market - instead of the European one. Thus, the EU practically shoots itself in the foot with the sanctions and even asks the population to make themselves miserable, that is, to save, essentially for nothing.
Savings have been a topic in Brussels and Western Europe for weeks and months. Typically, very wealthy politicians come to the public with the most diverse ideas.
It seems that the left wing in Hungary is also following this pattern, since Kata Tüttő is the former partner and mother of one of the richest people in our country, billionaire close to the Socialist Party Tamás Leisztinger.
You can tell about Tüttő that he lives in a very good way, because last year he posted a video on his Instagram page in which he rides out of the sea on the Greek coast. This is not cheap fun, it could even cost hundreds of thousands of forints. Kata Tüttő is now asking everyone to save.
We want to involve the population and the people of Budapest so that everyone in their area thinks about where they can consume a little less energy. Either by reducing the use of cars, or by rethinking the habits of heating, cooling and cooking at home, so everyone should look at the amount of energy they consume and how they can reduce it, said Deputy Gergely Karácsony on Spirit FM.
He added: "if everyone thinks a little about what is tolerable, it is not only about optimizing the energy bill, but also contributing to peace in Europe. And I think this is a very important matter".
