Katarina Barley may have to explain herself awkwardly in the coming days after she made a statement at a meeting that turned out to be a lie. The people then opened fire on the German politician, reports V4NA.

A fierce debate has arisen in the European Parliament in the past few days during the discussion of the issue of EU subsidies to Poland. At the meeting, the left-wing representatives called on the European Commission to continue preventing financial aid to Poland. During the debate, Polish representative Dominik Tarczyński

Tarczyński - who is a politician of the Polish ruling party - recalled Katerina Barley 's comments two years ago: "I would like to ask, is it true that she said that Poland should be financially starved? Just nod yes or no. Did you use these words? Are you aware of how they sound in Poland, a country where people starved to death because of the actions of the Germans? Can you appreciate what many Poles and Jews who were starving at the hands of the Germans during the war must have felt when they heard such words?" the politician asked the German vice president.

In his response, Barley categorically rejected the accusations and denied that he had ever used the term "starve" in reference to the Poles. "I've said it a million times, no, I've never said that. I used the word when I was referring to corruption in Hungary," the German vice-president repelled the accusations. However, as the recording of the debate was released on the Internet, commentators pointed out to the German politician that he had lied during the parliamentary session. As it turned out, he made these comments in a German radio interview in October 2020, in which he called for greater pressure on Poland and Hungary. Barley called for the withholding of EU subsidies and specifically for financial "starvation". One commenter - who linked to the relevant radio interview - noted that Vice President Katarina Barley made a racist statement and should apologize to Poles for what she said and for lying publicly about it.

Another commenter sent a message to the German vice-president of the European Parliament with a telling photo montage, to which he wrote: "we know that his dream is for all Poles to die of hunger (except perhaps the German subordinates of Polish origin). But there were also predecessors"

Do they enjoy the fact that people in the EP tell sarcastic lies about the Polish people and pass these lies on to the world as truth? asked another Polish user.
