The head of the Ministry of Technology and Industry said: the German government made "wise decisions", limited the price of fuel and introduced the institution of the nine-euro pass.

The government is examining the institution of the discounted, so-called nine-euro pass used in local and regional public transport in Germany, László Palkovics said on Wednesday in Berlin. After his meeting with Volker Wissing, the German Federal Minister responsible for transport and digital infrastructure, the head of the Ministry of Technology and Industry emphasized in his statement to the public media about the rise in the price of energy carriers: the German government made "wise decisions", limiting the price of fuels, similar to the Hungarian solution, and introducing the institution of a nine-euro pass, which, as a result of its "enormous success", many people switch from using cars to public transport.

Speaking about the Hungarian-German governmental cooperation, he underlined that the economy and politics of Hungary and Germany are also connected, so cooperation in the next period will also be "a very important necessity, but it is a good kind of necessity."

He pointed out that his meeting with Volker Wissing was the first ministerial-level meeting since the new Hungarian government took office. As he said, there are a lot of common issues, since the vehicle industry and transport are priority industries in both countries, and a significant part of Hungarian car production is linked to Germany.

He explained: they discussed the technologies that will define the sector in the near future, such as electric and hydrogen-based propulsion technology, and the topic of synthetic fuels. In relation to all of this, there is a common point of view that there is no "one good direction", but that several solutions must be chosen. Therefore, the Hungarian and German governments agree that in political decision-making

the principle of "technological neutrality" must be enforced, that is, every country must be given the opportunity to decide which path to take.

It is certain that the reduction of environmental load and carbon dioxide emissions is an important aspect of each solution, "but let's not determine in advance which is the only good direction", said László Palkovics. In Germany, a monthly pass costing nine euros (HUF 3,600) was introduced for the summer, for the June-August period, which is valid not only for the flights of local transport companies but also for the regional flights of the Deutsche Bahn railway company.
