The 8.2 percent growth of the Hungarian economy in the first quarter of this year shows that the Hungarian economy is stronger today than it was before the virus period, said the state secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (KKM) responsible for the development of bilateral relations.

Tamás Menczer stressed at the opening ceremony of Penta Kft.'s plate forming workshop: the government's commitment to the work was also shown by the fact that it launched the competitiveness-enhancing support program in 2020 to help businesses that, even during the pandemic, undertook to make investments and they were willing to preserve existing jobs. He added that during the epidemic, the government supported the investments of 1,434 companies, which resulted in HUF 1,700 billion in investments. Thanks to the measures, 280,000 jobs were preserved or created, he said.

The state secretary spoke about how, thanks to job-preserving measures, the economy reached its pre-epidemic performance level by the summer of 2021. He added that last year, despite the coronavirus epidemic, the Hungarian economy showed historic growth with its 7.1 percent growth, and it continued to strengthen in the first quarter of this year. He pointed out: 4.7 million people work in Hungary today, which is 1 million more than in 2010, true to the government's promises.
