According to Magyar Nemzet, on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Assembly will discuss raising the price of some BKK tickets and surcharges: according to the mayor's proposal, day tickets will become significantly more expensive, and those who use the blitz will have to pay much more. It is known that the city administration expects eight hundred million HUF in revenue from the increases. The capital would also introduce new parking zones, the fee for one hour of waiting in zone A will rise to HUF 600.
"We don't raise it because we believe that one of the most important conditions for a green and solidary world city is high-quality public transport available to everyone," stated Gergely Karácsony . The mayor added: the capital does not increase even though many pro-government municipalities have done so, and even though, as he puts it , "the state now only undertakes a very small part (six percent) of the financing of public transport in Budapest".
Nevertheless, on Thursday, Ambrus Kiss reported in a background discussion that BKK ticket prices would rise significantly. According to the mayor's proposal, the price of a twenty-four-hour daily ticket would rise from HUF 1,650 to HUF 2,500, and the Budapest seventy-two-hour ticket would rise from HUF 4,150 to HUF 5,500 , and the blitzers would also have to pay more. Until now, the amount of the on-site surcharge was eight thousand forints, which would increase to 12 thousand forints, the surcharge paid off-site would increase from 16 thousand forints to 25 thousand forints, and after thirty days, instead of 32 thousand forints, fifty thousand would have to be paid. If the Metropolitan Assembly votes next Wednesday, the new tariffs would enter into force at the beginning of September. It is known that the city administration expects eight hundred million HUF in revenue from the increase.
It also turned out that, in addition to BKK ticket prices, parking in the capital will also become more expensive from autumn : according to the plans, parking areas will be divided into a total of four zones. In the new system, you will have to pay HUF six hundred per hour for parking in zone A between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. In the AB zone, the parking fee will be HUF 450 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. You can park for three hundred forints in the AC zone between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and two hundred forints in the same time slot in the D zone. In zones A, B and C, parking is limited to a maximum of three hours. You will be able to park without restrictions in the AD zone.
There are currently 27 different parking zones in Budapest, and parking fees range from HUF 175 to HUF 525. For the time being, there is no final decision on the specific new zone boundaries.
