On the last weekend of June, the Meeting of the Hungarian Families of the Carpathian Basin took place in Nyíregyháza, in the area of the Sóstó Museum Village.
The Association of Family Organizations of the Carpathian Basin organized a meeting of families with personal presence in 2022 after the restrictions of the coronavirus epidemic. The event was attended by families from the homeland and across the border from the Highlands, Transcarpathia, Transylvania and the South.
Dr. Tünde Szabó, government commissioner and member of parliament, greeted the participants at the ceremonial opening of the event and expressed his pleasure to be here on this day. "The Hungarian government gives special support to families, it is very important that we represent the values that are reflected here in this community, as the twenty-first century holds many challenges for us, which call into question the principle in which we believe and in the spirit of which we raise our children.
It is important that we pass on these values in Hungary and the Carpathian Basin. The traditions and traditions that we represent can be passed on to young people, and this will be the case for many, many decades or even centuries" -
he said, and then thanked us for being in such a beautiful place worthy of this event.
Zsuzsanna Márton, the president of the Association of Family Organizations of the Carpathian Basin, greeted the participants with respect and love. He said that the organization's last event, where we were able to be together in the Parliament, was in the spring of 2020.
"We can show our strength in the community, Hungarian families in the motherland and across the border can strengthen each other together. For us, belonging is not only a feeling, but also gives us the strength to stay in our homeland."
The opening was followed by the performance of the Igrice Folk Dance Ensemble, Master Milo and his students, and the live puppet show of the Tiszavasvár kindergarten teachers.
Organizations from across the border were also presented, a tambourine band from the South and a magic show were included in the program. The Cifra band from Transcarpathia, Máté Papp (KMNE) played the flute, and Tamás Lődár (GISZ) sang the song "Because the home is not for sale" by the Transcarpathian Credo band.
László Lórán Ligart from Felvidék, from the Gömör region, performed his prose entitled Our Brother was Born by Olga Zágoni. The members of the Tulipán folk dance group from Nagycétény performed from the Zoboral region, Zachar Amelia and Erika Bartalos Csaba Szőke from Nagycétény recited the poem "The Glasses" and "Traktor". Balázs Jánoska represented the Mátyusföld region with his storytelling.
From Transylvania, we saw the Kunigunda singing group and the Kőröstárkáni scouts perform, as well as the Röpike dance group and the Szárazberek HH presented field and szatmár dances.
During the day, the organizers provided various programs. The companion event of the family day was the presentation of police dogs, the beauty of one of Hungary's largest outdoor open-air museums, crafts and a foam party organized by the firefighters.
Nearly a thousand guests came to the meeting of the families. The purpose of the event is to create points of connection for families with the cultural, touristic and gastronomic presentation of the Carpathian basin regions, thereby strengthening national identity and the preservation of family values.
