The goal of Károli Gáspár Református University (KRE) is to create a young and sporty higher education institution. Rector László Trócsányi signs a cooperation agreement with the National Association of Sports Associations and six sports associations in the capital. The institution wants to create recreational, competitive sports opportunities and to realize the diversity of sports choices for its students.

László Trócsányi mentioned it as an emphasis point of his rector's program: he treats the development of students' sporting opportunities and conditions as a priority. KRE is also committed to supporting sports careers: with an individual, discounted study plan, it enables a sports career to be in harmony with university classes and exams. The head of the institution called the increase in the sports scholarship, the amount of which increased to HUF 10 million for one semester, a kind of rallying cry. A volleyball, handball and a water polo team have already been established in the institution.

As a future task, the rector mentioned the creation of the Károli SC Association, which would implement the currently fragmented sports activities in a unified and coordinated manner. Starting this September, the university will also introduce compulsory physical education. The head of the institution also highlighted the community-creating power of sport, which is why students are offered many opportunities in the future. A recent survey showed that students would prefer team sports: volleyball, handball, nature walks, among others, he added.

László Trócsányi announced that there are no plans to create a separate physical education department at the university, however, the scientific approach to sport - sports psychology, sports law - may come to the fore.

The Károli Gáspár Reformed University will be 30 years old next year. They would like to celebrate that they have reached another milestone by launching sports development.

Among the plans, he mentioned that KRE would participate in university championships, since Hungary will host the Universitas international sports event in 2024.

Tamás Deutsch, president of the National Association of Sports Associations, emphasized in connection with the cooperation:

joint work can promote the formation of a dual career model. They want to create an opportunity for the student to have another career after finishing elite sports. Furthermore, the new agreement with the university can also boost association sports.

In order to create a high-quality university sports life, the 6 largest sports clubs in the capital intend to use their own means to promote the institution's sports life to the forefront among Hungarian universities. Tracks, equipment, and infrastructure will be provided to meet the needs of recreational and competitive sports. The athletes of the associations can take part in further training at the university.

KRE and the National Association of Sports Associations signed the sports development agreement with the Budapest Honvéd Sports Association, the BVSC-Zugló Közhaznú Egyesület, the Ferencvárosi Gymnastics Club, the Hungarian Body Exercisers' Circle Budapest, the Újpest Gymnastics Association and the Vasas Sport Club.
