More than 3,500 people were entitled to vote on Sunday in electoral district No. 2 in Dunaújváros, they could go to the polls in five voting districts between six in the morning and seven in the evening. According to unofficial data, the Fidesz-KDNP candidate Konrád Lőrinczi won the by-election with 53.5 percent of the votes, reports duol.hu.

As you will recall, due to the coronavirus epidemic, it was not possible to schedule a by-election or a referendum, and the announced elections were postponed, but from April 10, the interim local government elections could be scheduled again. The Local Election Committee set the referendum for July 3, and the Fidesz candidate won.

The Fidesz candidate Zita Kelei (Fidesz-KDNP) also won the mayoral election in Őrtilos, Somogy county, where four members of the representative body were also elected in the interim voting held on Sunday.

According to information on the website of the National Electoral Office, the ruling party politician who won the last election also received 174 valid votes, while his rival, the independent Szilárd Darázi, received 97 valid votes. The deputies were selected from nine independent candidates.

In the by-elections in Budaörs, the candidate of Fidesz also won, in individual electoral district No. 10, István Török, the candidate of the ruling party, won 55.52 percent of the votes and defeated László Hajdu, according to data from valasztas.hu.

Although the result has not yet been confirmed, it is in line with the results of the June 26 by-election. A week earlier, on Sunday, June 26, by-elections were held in more than fifty municipalities, which were also missed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

The government party candidates and the civilians supported by the government parties were overwhelmingly successful, winning 28 mandates, including six mayoral positions, while the left was only able to win in two individual districts.

The Fidesz-KDNP party alliance also won in settlements that were still left-wing strongholds in the April 3 elections, so the right won in Budapest and Szeged, for example.
