"When planning the budget, we can only support responsible, well-thought-out proposals," emphasized the Minister of Finance Mihály Varga on his official social media page.

In a video shared on his Facebook page, Mihály Varga said:

We reviewed the left's 436 amending proposals for next year's budget. These would overturn the budget by a total of HUF 4,600 billion.

This is almost the same amount as what we will spend on family subsidies, the utility defense fund and the national defense fund in total next year.

The Minister of Finance highlighted some examples from which it became clear that the left's tax hike proposals would increase the public burden by HUF 3,240 billion.

"These include the carbon tax, which would mean a tax increase of HUF 200 billion, as well as the increase in corporate tax, which would increase the burden on businesses by HUF 2,360 billion."

According to their recommendations, budget reserves should also be used up. One and a half times the original HUF 1,230 billion reserve, HUF 1,900 billion, would be spent on reserves, the minister wrote.

Mihály Varga emphasized:

"Next year's budget is the budget for overhead defense and national defense," he added

"Our goal is to protect the achieved results and maintain stability even in the war crisis. The left-wing proposals would endanger this, increasing the budget deficit and the national debt. When planning the budget, we can only support responsible, thoughtful proposals."
