While they are fighting with African migrants in Melilla and Ceuta, shooting each other on the Serbian border and attacking our policemen from the Middle East, the Slovenian left is tearing down the border fence, saying that this will make illegal border crossings legal.
The Slovenian army will start dismantling the fence on its border with Croatia from the second half of next week, Slovenian Interior Minister Tatjana Bobnar announced on Friday at the press conference following the government meeting.
Migration is part of modern societies, therefore the most effective migration policy is to ensure safe and legal migration," said the head of the ministry.
One of the priorities of the new left-wing government led by Robert Golob is to dismantle the fence.
Back in 2015, Slovenia built a 176-kilometer-long barbed wire fence on its 670-kilometer border with Croatia due to the wave of migration. This was later gradually replaced by a panel fence and expanded. Currently, there are 135 kilometers of barbed wire fence and 60 kilometers of panel fence along the common border section.
At Bobnar's initiative, the ministry also created a new advisory board that will advocate for the creation of safer migration routes, more efficient asylum procedures and obtaining residence permits, easing the conditions for international protection and social integration.
According to Bobnar, "asylum seekers" must be regularly integrated into society and the labor market, and they must be given the opportunity to learn the language.
The committee has already instructed the police to pay special attention to the protection of vulnerable groups, to ensure individual treatment of applicants for international protection, and to record that they have been informed of their rights, said the head of the ministry, adding that with the use and presence of the tools so far, the in the field, the police continue to ensure security and the protection of state borders.
