Mandiner listed the major developments and contracts signed since 2016, which build the Hungarian Defense Forces on a completely new foundation. Here are some details.

In March 2017, the modernization of the Mistral short-range air defense missile system began. The national defense has acquired Mistral 3 (M–3) type missiles, together with MATIS MP3 type thermal cameras, and the modernization of the radar MCP fire control points has also begun.

As a result of the acquisition of M-3 type missiles and the ongoing MCP-SHORAR guidance point and locator modernization, the renewed weapon system will be able to meet the challenges of the time, experts claim, and will also be a more effective part of NATO's integrated air and missile defense system to form. Day and night. By the way, the changes only affected the missiles placed on the stand, the Atlas launch stand, which is part of the air defense missile complex, is suitable for launching both M-2 and M-3 type missiles.

A year later, the army's troop transport aircraft arrived in Kecskemét: the Airbus A319s. Machines purchased used are expected to be in service for a decade and a half.

At that time it was announced that according to the agreement with the Czech arms factory CZ, the handguns of the national defense will be manufactured under license in Kiskunfélegyháza, Hungary. New handguns were introduced in August 2018: the CZ Bren 2 assault rifle, the Scorpion EVO3 submachine guns, and the CZ P-07 and P-09 pistols.

Several significant contracts were signed in 2018. a decision was made with Airbus Helicopters to purchase 20 light, multi-task H145M helicopters . On December 3, 2021, the fleet was completed with search and rescue, general-purpose and multi-purpose machines. The procurement of the helicopters with service equipment cost a total of 105 billion and 60 Hungarian pilots were trained for this type by December 2021.

In December of this year, 16 H225M will arrive in Hungary under the contract with Airbus Helicopters.
