The jubilee, 30th Jókai Mór Summer University of the Slovakian Hungarian Teachers Association (SZMPSZ) opened on Monday afternoon in a festive setting, with the singing of the Hungarian national anthem, in the impressive hall of the Tiszti Pavilion in Komárom.

The opening and its high-quality cultural program were broadcast live from Komárom at two other locations: in Rimaszombat, the II. Participants of the Ferenc Rákóczi Summer University and the outsourced specialist group from the Benedek Elek Faculty of Pedagogy in Sopron. The event was attended by Péter Szilágyi, the Prime Minister's Deputy Secretary of State responsible for national policy, Éva Czimbalmosné Molnár, head of the State Secretariat's department responsible for the Highlands, Judit Pirityiné Szabó, head of the Department of the Southern Region and Diaspora, as well as Béla Keszegh, the mayor of Komárom, and many prominent representatives of the teaching profession, who Mária Vörös, vice president of the SZMPSZ, greeted me.

Traditionally, the most comprehensive and longest-standing pedagogical training for Hungarian teachers in Slovakia, which took place between July 11 and 13, began with the singing of the teacher's blessing. Irén Fekete, the president of the SZMPSZ, highlighted in his opening speech,

Although the teaching community is going through a difficult period, the two years of epidemics and the ongoing war cannot deter teachers from their profession, teaching, education and mentoring.

In connection with the jubilee anniversary, he recalled the summer university organized for the first time in Deáki in the summer of 1992, which, he said, is still a concept among Hungarian teachers in the Carpathian Basin.

"This was the first time that teachers from the highlands could meet live at the national level," he noted. After that, Deáki hosted the event four more times, then Nagymegyer, then Dunaszerdahely, then Komárom, Kassa, then Rimaszombat became the scene, where the series of summer trainings continued for 13 years.

Péter Szilágyi, the Deputy State Secretary responsible for national policy at the Prime Minister's Office, welcomed the teachers participating in the festive opening event as a colleague. "All my appreciation goes to those who use this summer period not only for relaxation, but also for learning, development and building relationships.

Quoting Sándor Márai, he said,

Being Hungarian is not a state, but a task and a profession. "You fulfill a double task: you stand tall not only as teachers, but also as Hungarians in your homeland".

In his opinion, this means extra commitment and added value. Quoting Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, he emphasized that the Hungarians have a mission: to keep the culture and language of our nation alive. "If we don't do this, then no one else will and what our ancestors have preserved for centuries will eventually be lost," he said.

The XXX. The talent ambassadors of the SZMPSZ participated in the festive program of Mór Jókai Summer University: Éva Korpás, Imre Vadkerti, Gyöngyi Écsi and the poetess Zsófia Ördögh, who won the talent award, as well as the students of the elementary school in Perbete. Academician Valéria Csépe, president of the Accreditation Committee of Hungarian Higher Education, gave a lecture at the summer university Quo vadis Central European public education? with title.
