Sometimes even right-wing people can win in court, even against an influential left-wing politician - this was revealed at the Szombathely District Court the other day, where no less than the city's socialist mayor was convicted for insulting the reputation of former State Secretary for Public Administration István Dankó.

According to the first instance verdict, András Nemény must also pay HUF 100,000 in damages to the former state secretary of the Ministry of National Defense. The antecedent and trigger of the story is the real estate sale held in Szombathely; the area of the old city beach fell victim to this, in quite spicy conditions. However, the locals want a parking lot for the hospital in this area, the construction of which would be supported by the government. The result of the fight of the people of Szombathely for the parking lot may not only be the recovery of the area, but also the exposure of a real estate scam.

In the negotiations for the area and the parking lot, Csaba Hende , the government member of parliament from Szombathely, also took part and brought with him his former secretary of state for public administration, whose stated legal position was that the sale of the property and the manner in which it was sold were illegal. András Nemény attacked Dankó at the next general meeting: he called him of dubious reputation and also claimed that, as state secretary, he conducted public procurement for himself and his own company. For now, you only have to answer for the defamation, but if you are unlucky, even the matter of real estate sales may end up before the authorities...

István Dankó - awarded a serious public procurement to himself and his company at the general assembly of the city of Szombathely under county law on February 24, 2022. worked at the Ministry of National Defense, violated the plaintiff's personal right to reputation. At first, István Dankó only called on András Nemény to apologize, and then, after the mayor did not comply, he started a personal law lawsuit for damage to his reputation. István Dankó claims that he would not have been able to arrange public procurement for himself, because he does not have and never had any company before.

But what could be such a delicate and embarrassing matter that the otherwise routine and generally thoughtful city manager attacks a former secretary of state with completely untrue, out-of-the-air slanders? Well, the Szombathely parking case, in which András Nemény and Csaba Czeglédy - who was a candidate for Parliament at the time - were very sidetracked this time. The municipality sold the undeveloped part of the former city beach area to an entrepreneur for only HUF 81 million, in a very questionable manner. Then, when it turned out that there would definitely be a parking lot here, they came up with a really crazy deal about leaseback and subsidies, just so that the area would remain in the ownership of the buyer. The derelict property and the attitude of the city management in the construction of the parking lot caused and continues to cause such public outrage in the county seat of Vasi that it may even lead to the downfall of the left.

The current left-liberal city administration of Szombathely managed to steer the city into such a difficult financial situation for the 2022 budget year that it decided to sell certain municipal properties to mitigate this. According to the resolution of the general assembly - which none of the Fidesz representatives voted for - it was decided to sell twelve properties in one package. a parking lot for the hospital's employees and visitors was already

It is particularly interesting that they announced an offer submission deadline with an extremely short deadline, within which only one valid offer was received for the beach area, namely from a company that did not have the necessary amount for the sale , but instead paid the purchase price with a newly taken out bank loan...

... But it was in vain to make a valid offer, to quickly conduct the sale and purchase, because 1,500 signatures were collected on a public initiative from the people of Szombathely, who were not willing to give up the parking lot that could be built here. With a twist, András Nemény tried to save what could be saved, so that he would not have to buy back the property - even for more than what the city received from the buyer - as he could rightfully demand a part of the cost of the materials prepared for the tender. In addition, a buyback is also an admission that they did not act properly. They tried to avoid this as much as possible...

...The representative put forward a new proposal, the essence of which was that if the land is returned to the municipality's ownership, he will approach the government to provide the municipality with the repurchase price and the entire investment cost. The only condition for this was the repurchase of the property by the municipality. Former Secretary of State for Public Administration István Dankó also expressed his position at this particular meeting. That is why mayor Nemény later told him everything in front of the assembly, which was also defamation according to the Szombathely Court.

Csaba Hende practically beat the mayor and even a quasi-historic court order was issued. On March 4, 2022, Gergely Gulyás confirmed the government's commitment to the matter, they agreed to give Szombathely the amount of the buyback and the construction of the parking lot, if the property is once again owned by the city and they see the exact numbers.

The buyer entered into the return of the area with the expectation that he would receive an additional HUF 33 million in addition to the original purchase price - roughly HUF 81 million. However, András Nemény is still unwilling to rectify the situation he caused himself on his own responsibility. Not only does he not return the previously taken purchase price from his own budget, but he is not even willing to advance it. The contract was prepared in such a way that it will only come into effect if the Hungarian government transfers the money to the city's account by August 31; only then does ownership of the property revert to the city. According to their idea, this contract should now be "walked out" by the city's ruling parliamentary representative...
