"The mayor is not keeping his promise of three years ago either," highlighted the Fidesz-KDNP faction in the capital in his Facebook post. Magyar Nemzet looked into the promises that the mayor did not fulfill.

It only offers green advice to those interested, which, let's face it, is nothing more than a hyper-passive pretense. Just what we've come to expect from the mayor

- wrote the Budapest faction of the Fidesz-KDNP on their social media page, and then added: Gergely Karácsony promised in his 2019 mayoral campaign that he would give housing utility subsidies to needy pensioners and families with small children during the heating season, supporting them with HUF 20,000.

Now, during the energy crisis, he demands substantial help from the government in his Facebook post, while not keeping his promise of three years ago, and the mayor is trying to cover up the fact that he still hasn't fulfilled one of his specific election promises with apparent measures

- highlighted the post.

In connection with the election program of the mayor, Magyar Nemzet looked into, among other things, what kind of promise he made regarding housing support. In a statement dated 2019, the first person of Budapest talked about the fact that in the previous year the real estate prices in Budapest grew the fastest in the whole world. According to his point of view at the time, the mayor does have something to do with the housing of the people of Budapest, he will break down the growth of sub-rentals, and by effectively increasing the non-profit housing sector, the housing crisis will be eliminated. It is a fact that hundreds of thousands of Budapest residents - not only the poorest - are suffering because of high rents. It can be seen that much more municipal housing would be needed, yet there have been fewer and fewer for years. The mayor did not find a solution to their problems, but instead experimented with his own ideas.

Such an attempt was made, for example, by the VIII. in the district of Kőbányai út 22 and its surroundings, where Gergely Karácsony moved homeless people into the rental apartments. Since then, there have been many discarded needles and syringes in the area, and the appearance of intoxicated drug users is a daily occurrence. Among other things, the coverage of the Magyar Nemzet last year reported on cockroaches, dirt, and apartments with different levels of comfort around the building, i.e., the tenants who were previously moved into seventy-one apartments by the capital led by Gergely Karácsony and the Budapest Methodological Social Center and Institutions are living in such conditions. .

Budapest's first person also wrote in his program that there will be a continuous dialogue with the population about the capital's current issues, and the opinions of Budapest residents will be regularly sought in the case of specific issues and projects. At the same time, despite his campaign promises, Karácsony continues to refrain from broad social consultation, insisting on following his own visions instead of the will of the people of Budapest

– reminded the Fidesz organization in Budapest.

As is known, the mayor announced, referring to a public opinion poll, that the majority of Budapest residents support the car-free section of Pest's lower wharf downtown, from the Chain Bridge to the Erzsébet Bridge. The beauty of the matter is that the mayor's survey is not very convincing, as 49 percent of Budapest residents support car-free compared to 43 percent, however, looking at the deceptive diagram, it turns out that only 17 percent would actually hand over the embankment completely to pedestrians, which is far from the wide from broad social consensus. In addition, several surveys prove the opposite of Karácsony's announcement, and the industry does not support his plans either: the Hungarian Automobile Club rejects the idea, and the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Industry launches an online consultation for the businesses operating here.
