So far, no one has applied for the post of male co-chairman of the MSZP, even though the party's renewal procedure begins on September 1, Magyar Nemzet learned According to the paper, it emerged from the words of its socialist sources that the events may accelerate after August 20, and it is not even excluded that Bertalan Tóth, who resigned from his position, will also enter the ring. In the meantime, EP representative István Ujhelyi started organizing a community platform within the party.

Magyar Nemzet recalled that there were those who claimed that it was only a question of the fact that after the long extraordinary parliamentary session, all possible aspirants are on vacation, resting, and spending time with their families. Others hinted that the party made a conscious decision in order to prevent the media from dealing with the internal affairs of the socialists.

The newspaper's sources claimed that after August 20, in addition to András Nemény, Tamás Harangozó and István Hiller could also apply for the post of co-president. In relation to the latter, some clarified that: many people would rather see Hiller as the old-new leader of the MSZP, but he still wants to remain the chairman of the caucus. Last but not least, some of our sources did not consider it out of the question that even Bertalan Tóth could change his mind and run for the post of co-president.

The former president of the Socialists, Attila Mesterházy, stated that they do not want radical changes in the party, which is, however, necessary for the MSZP to "survive its own death throes".

A sign of the complete disintegration is that right after the catastrophic election defeat of the left, in April, István Ujhelyi announced that he would apply for the position, and even indicated that he would change the name of the party to "Esély - Hungarian Social Democrats Party Community".
