The winegrowers and winemakers can count on the government in the future as well, after the support of the past years, they are now taking another step for the future of Hungarian winemakers and Hungarian wines, they want to give new impetus to the national wine marketing, said Zsolt Nyitrai, chief adviser to the Prime Minister, after consulting with Government Commissioner Pál Rókusfalvy vintners, winemakers, about the situation of the domestic wine market.
In a joint statement delivered to MTI on Thursday by the Prime Minister's Commissioner responsible for important socio-political affairs and the Government Commissioner responsible for national wine marketing, Zsolt Nyitrai highlighted that the work of winegrowers and winemakers was supported by numerous measures in the past decade, which improved the competitiveness of Hungarian wine both here in Hungary and worldwide.
He explained that about 75 billion forints of support were provided for the modernization of domestic vineyards, and about 30 billion forints were supported for the technological investments of wineries.
The new wine market regulation is a qualitative step forward for the sector, which helps to reduce the administrative burden by rethinking official procedures and electronic administration.
The possibility of electronic administration may open in the first quarter of 2023, but it will become mandatory only later, expectedly from next August, and only for larger market players using larger plantations, Zsolt Nyitrai pointed out.
The newly appointed government commissioner Pál Rókusfalvy emphasized in the announcement that the government has recognized the importance of the wine sector and is confident that by creating and implementing the new strategy, by bringing the young generation of winemakers into a position, the international position of Hungarian wine will be significantly promoted and spectacular results will be achieved.
According to the information, both agreed that the coronavirus epidemic of recent years has made life difficult for winegrowers and winemakers, as well as the war taking place next door, and the historic drought does not spare the players of the sector either, so a well-thought-out strategy and cooperation between the areas are of particular importance.
Increasing the value of Hungarian wine on the world market has been identified as an important goal, but research, surveys, and the transfer of international knowledge into domestic practice are considered essential for development. In addition to all this, one of the most important and the most forward-looking indicators from the point of view of wine marketing is the involvement of the young generation in the joint work, they write in the announcement.
