More than 80 percent of the entire winter residential natural gas consumption is already in domestic gas reservoirs - this is what an expert reported to M1. According to Máté Tóth, the safety reserves supplemented by the special natural gas reserve will cover the country's needs during the heating season, so there is no need to worry about it being cold in the apartments during the winter months.
The filling of domestic gas storage facilities is progressing at an adequate pace, the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority announced. By the beginning of the month, there were already 920 cubic meters more in storage than required by the European Union gas storage regulation.
"Roughly, the storages are already 54% full, which is very good, because this represents 84% of the total winter residential natural gas consumption demand, so now, at the beginning of August, we are in a comfortable position, especially if we look at the western similar indicators of European countries," said energy lawyer Máté Tóth.
The government will also create a special natural gas reserve of 7,811,000 megawatt-hours, which would be filled with 1.8 billion euros.
"Hungary can receive natural gas from 6 directions, our supply is continuous, mainly through the Turkish stream and at the Austrian border point in Baumgarten, compared to several Western European countries, so this is also stable. Also, the other is the storage capacity, this is where the essential change is taking place," Máté Tóth pointed out.
According to the energy lawyer, if Brussels does not change its attitude and does not ease the sanctions packages directed at Russia, it could have unforeseeable consequences. Máté Tóth said: so far, Brussels and the ideologically driven Western European politicians have not listened to the signals of science and industry.
