Electricity consumption in the Hungarian electricity system was about 9 percent lower in the last week of July than a year earlier, Portfolio pointed out. The figures refer to the data of the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic.
Between July 25 and 31 this year, 8.7 percent less electricity was consumed in the Hungarian electricity system than in the last week of July 2021.
The total gross electricity consumption in July was therefore 5.6 percent lower than in July 2021, it was explained.
The portal also recalled that electricity consumption fell by 8.7 percent compared to June 2019 due to restrictions and shutdowns due to the coronavirus epidemic.
During the comparison, the temperature data must also be taken into account, as they are strongly related to the development of use: in summer, the rise in temperature entails an increase in consumption as the need for cooling increases. The average temperature of July 2022 was only 0.2 degrees Celsius below the average monthly temperature of 24.8 degrees in July 2021. in the last week of the month, the negative deviation was more significant compared to a year earlier, they wrote.
However, the statistics do not include the data of the fast-spreading household-sized solar panel systems, which increasingly influence the network consumption values, they added.
