The Cluj-Napoca police suspect a 31-year-old man from Brasov of breaking into the Szent Mihály church on the main square between Saturday and Sunday and stealing the wallet. At the same time, they continue to investigate in order to find the other suspected perpetrator who broke the stained glass window of the house of worship, as it turned out that they broke into the newly restored church, which was blessed just two weeks ago, twice in a short period of time.
According to Archdeacon Attila László, the incident is particularly sad because the work has not even ended, before the settlement of the project and the completion of the last minor works, "bad intentions have already turned people against this Transylvanian Catholic treasure".
In response to a question from the Cluj24 news portal, the parish priest said that the stolen wallet could have contained a few hundred lei at most, but the damage to the broken stained glass window was significant, up to 3,000 euros. They are already looking for a specialist who can repair the window, and they have decided to install bars on the windows in order to avoid similar cases.
