You can also request a gas subsidy at the government windows, sonline.hu pointed out. Parents raising at least three minor children are entitled to the gas consumption discount, but it is not automatically granted, so you have to apply.
A copy of the consumer contract, an invoice and a payment receipt must be attached to the completed application. It is essential that the consumer contract and the invoice are in the name of the claimant. The government offices receive the requests and forward them electronically to the Hungarian State Treasury within a day.
In the case of those with three children, in addition to the 1,729 cubic meters per year, the discount band limit increases by an additional 600 cubic meters, and for those with four children and up by 300 cubic meters for each child. In other words, they have to pay HUF 102 per cubic meter up to the discount band limit for large families, a tenth of the market price of HUF 1,020.
In addition to large families, users of electrical medical aids (e.g. people with mobility impairments) are also entitled to an electricity discount, which they can claim at the steering wheel window. All people who, or with whom a person lives in a household, use such an aid on a daily basis are entitled to the discount.
When submitting the application - in the case of a new place of use - the contractual relationship for the service must be verified, or if an invoice has already been issued, the completion of the last invoice received before submitting the application.
