It was not possible to dismiss the investigating judge in the Brussels corruption case - this is what Politico writes about. The portal knows that the investigation will continue under the leadership of Michel Claise, as the motion to replace him was rejected by the Belgian Court of Appeal.

The arrested Socialist MEP, Marc Tarabella, petitioned in mid-February for the removal of the chief judge who first exposed the crimes because, according to him, he was biased and did not believe in his innocence. The federal prosecutor did not see this as justified, so Judge Claise can remain in his post.

Brussels corruption scandal erupted at the end of December , after it was revealed that the Socialist Vice-President of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili, and several other EU politicians had accepted bribes and valuable gifts from Qatar. In return, they lobbied for decisions favorable to the Gulf state in Brussels. A total of more than one and a half million euros, i.e. HUF 600 million, was found with Eva Kaili and the people close to her.

We can talk about systemic corruption in Brussels - this is how the Fidesz EP representative sees it, and according to him the corruption scandal continues to spread. Balázs Hidvéghi emphasized:

new people, rules and transparency are needed in Brussels.

"Brussels bureaucrats are swimming in corruption cases. The way in which the European Parliament or the European Commission, for example, regularly educates Hungary about the rule of law is all the more hypocritical and deceitful. He teaches him a lesson and threatens him, while it seems that the minimum and the first step would be to sweep around his own house, instead of attacking member states with false statements or false reasons," said Balázs Hidvéghi .

Corruption has been present in EU institutions for years

– the analyst of the Nézőpont Institute has already talked about this on Kossuth Radio. According to Milán Pálfalvi, it is time for the European people to put an end to what is going on in Brussels.

"What a narrow political elite in Brussels is doing at our expense, at the expense of European people, is simply unacceptable. This is inadmissible, and I hope that at the national level in every country - after all, the elections are held under national competence - people will say that this is the end and no more," emphasized the analyst.

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that the director general of the transport department of the European Commission accepted free flights from Qatar.
