Tamás Deutsch: The sanctions will have a catastrophic effect on the EU
The energy sanctions brought against Russia threaten to have catastrophic consequences for the entire European community, while they have little effect on Russia, said a member of the European Parliament of Fidesz on Monday in Kossuth radio's Good Morning, Hungary program.
Tamás Deutsch recalled: after the Hungarian government expressed its doubts about the sanctions, an "elemental attack" was launched against it at the European level, and even throughout the world and in Hungary.
"The Hungarian left is pro-sanctions to an amazing extent, the only thing is that reality has knocked on everyone's door," said Tamás Deutsch, adding: the reality is that the sanctions extended to the field of energy did not cause Russia to lose sales revenue, but from its energy exports It had record sales of 158 billion euros, of which 85 billion euros were paid by the European Union.
At the same time, the sanctions have skyrocketed the prices, so the EU really imports less energy, but pays more for it, inflation increases, it is increasingly difficult to guarantee energy security, and utility bills also become unaffordable, explained the MEP representative.
In response to the suggestion that the opposition received HUF two billion dollars from abroad in the election campaign, Tamás Deutsch said that the left did not comply with the rule that foreign financial support should not be accepted in an election campaign.
"This rule was clearly violated by Péter Márki-Zay and the Hungarian left, the united opposition," he declared, pointing out that this is not just an accusation, since the opposition proudly admits that two billion forint dollars were requested, received and used.
Tamás Deutsch summarized: it is not difficult to draw the conclusion that György Soros "bought by the pound" the Hungarian opposition, which did not regain its independence even after the election failure.
