The MNM Semmelweis Medical History Museum, Library and Data Library (SOM) is preparing special programs for this year's Ars Sacra Festival, according to the institution's announcement sent to Magyar Hírlap. The SOM quotes the Old Testament, in which Yahweh says to Moses: "I, the Lord, am your healer."

"According to the Jewish and Christian faith, our healing from physical and mental illnesses is intertwined from the beginning, the source of healing can therefore be none other than the creator of body and soul: God," says the institution, adding that it created its 2022 program in the spirit of this SOM.

The aim of the museum is to shed light on three aspects of the intertwining of medicine and Christian culture - holiness and healing, service and the medical profession, spiritual care in hospitals - with its program.

During the week of Ars Sacra, postulator Gergely Kovács will give a lecture on the role of miraculous healings in the process of Catholic consecrations, ethnographer Judit Kis-Halas on the relationship between places of pilgrimage and healings, and András Koroknai on the role of medical missions in the Carpathian Basin. The program week ends with a conversation with Piarist Father Lajos Kerényi about his service as a hospital chaplain.

The event will be opened on September 20, 2022, at three o'clock in the afternoon by the Archbishop and Metropolitan of Kalocsa, Bábel Balázs, with a welcome address by Benedek Varga, the director of the museum. During the week, museum educational programs are also being prepared for young people: on September 21–22, schoolchildren will be treated to Healing Saints in History.
