Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén submitted a proposal to the Parliament: according to this, the government would establish a new animal protection foundation from 2024 under the name "Our common cause is the Animal Protection Foundation". As can be read on Mandine, according to the proposal, the purpose of the foundation is to carry out tasks related to the development and popularization of animal protection, as well as to raise awareness of the responsibility of animal husbandry, reports the HVG.
With the law, the following tasks would be officially assigned to the organization:
operation of the information portal related to animal protection,
coordination of animal protection professional conferences,
conducting and supervising national communication and sensitization campaigns related to animal protection, as well as animal protection tenders,
raising awareness and passing on the importance of animal protection to the younger generations,
stimulating scientific and educational activities aimed at popularizing animal protection, developing and coordinating training programs,
supporting animal protection NGOs and economic organizations, encouraging their cooperation,
mapping the possibilities of adapting international good practices in order to develop domestic animal husbandry culture.
Justice Minister Judit Varga will take care of the creation of the organization. The government will ensure the assets of the foundation, and will support its operation annually from 2024.
