The country is prepared for the winter heating period, based on the capacity of the gas storage tanks, the energy carriers necessary for the operation of the economy and households are provided, announced Attila Steiner. The state secretary responsible for energy at the Ministry of Technology and Industry announced that the gas storage capacity is currently at 72 percent.

Since the country's storage capacity is quite large - in terms of the charge compared to annual consumption, it is well above the EU average - the energy carriers necessary for the operation of the domestic economy and for households are available.

According to Attila Steiner, the government's goal is to guarantee security of supply and keep residential energy prices low even in the energy crisis. People in Europe are paying punitive prices for energy because of Brussels' misguided policies.

The Hungarian government opposed these sanctions from the beginning, which now clearly show that they caused more damage to Europe than to Russia, he pointed out.

Attila Steiner reminded that the government also helps Hungarian families with utility reductions, the firewood program, the brown coal program, the gasoline price freeze, the food price freeze, and the interest rate freeze. - Since 2013, the utility reduction has protected the population from the increase in energy prices in a unique way in Europe, it is the largest assistance provided to families of this type in Europe, as it provides 30 percent of the average income as a subsidy, while it is 20 percent in Germany and six percent in Austria, he pointed out.

Then he added:

the utility reduction remains available to all Hungarian households, up to the level of average consumption. Above this level, users have to pay the so-called residential market price, which is much more favorable compared to the world market price.

According to the state secretary, with this measure, each household will save approximately HUF 181,000 per month - in the case of average consumption.

Until September 19, MVM issued about 2.4 million gas bills, nearly four-fifths of which were below the average consumption, and these were fully subject to reduced utility pricing.
