The New Zealand government plans to impose an environmental tax on burping cows from 2025, because many cows already emit significant amounts of greenhouse gases.
If implemented, it would be the first tax of its kind in the world - plans would allow farmers to pass on the extra cost to consumers, saying they are selling climate-friendly food. Despite this, the draft did not win the enthusiasm of those involved, reports the Index based on the Abcnews article.
The cabinet promises that the amount raised in this way would be reinvested in the technological development of the sector.
2022 plus:
The hall curtain! Although New Zealand is far from Europe, it is not so far that the day will not come soon when some member of the European Parliament, referring to democracy and the rule of law, would initiate the banning of burping and human winds. Although the compliance of this would be questioned by one or two representatives suffering from a mild coma, taxation would be introduced instead. Let's say a buffet is 50 cents, a spelunking is 1 euro. And collecting them would be easy in today's mobile phone world. This new form of tax on harmful emissions must therefore be prepared slowly, so if I may suggest, everyone should start living a somewhat more restrained life, so that we don't end up like we did with the current energy crisis, which is upon us. And then, in the case of EU citizens, they would not only talk about energy poverty, but also about poverty in Böfi.
Of course, as a simple child of the people - who does not have a say in the irresponsible decisions of the EU - I would draw the attention of the honorable representatives to the fact that I would treat all of this a little bit wrongly, because if this form of taxation started to spread, not only Europe, but the world would be in a very bad place. Because if the annual burping tax were introduced in China - where it is well known that a good loud burp after a meal means appreciation of the food - they would be the emperors of the world.
